Auction, Promos, Majors and More
It’s been a busy few months in the Development Department. Last month, our 5th Annual Green Coffee Auction raised over $80,000 for our programs. Forty-six generous donors gave us over 30,000 pounds of green coffee, and six companies donated specialty coffee equipment. How great is that? On the general support front, we welcomed Volcafe Specialty to the ranks of our major donors. Their stated business goal of connecting “customers with producers through social and economic support” lines up perfectly with the mission of Grounds for Health. Considering their global reach, Volcafe Specialty is a marquee company to add to our roster of major supporters.
Two very successful retail promotions were also recently held. Through their newest Bold Standard Initiative – Project Elevation, Dunn Brothers partnered with Grounds For Health during the first quarter of this year. Dunn Brothers contributed 50¢ to Grounds For Health for each pound of El Salvador – El Majahual sold or brewed at retail outlets through February, reaching a total donation amount of $8,900.
Campos Coffee, a leader in coffee throughout Australia showed its appreciation “for all hard working Mums both here and in producing countries by donating to Grounds for Health.” They donated 20% of all revenue from Coffee of the Month subscriptions and Superior Blend purchases and 100% of all revenue from Cupping Experience purchases during the month of Mother’s Day for a total of $5,000.
In addition, the Flavor & Fragrance Specialties promotion, “Brewing Change,” a turn-key operation for business customers continues to gain steam. This unique program gives coffee companies the ability to purchase specific coffee flavors and receive a raft of marketing-to-consumer materials—all to educate consumers about our organization and ultimately benefit Grounds for Health
Finally, we welcome donors from two divisions of Cargill: Truvia in Food Service and Cargill Risk Management.
We’d like to thank all of these organizations for their creativity, generosity and support!
