Ethiopia

Since 2014, Grounds for Health has worked in Ethiopia, the country considered by many as the origin of coffee, to integrate high quality cervical cancer screening and preventive therapy services at local health facilities. Starting in the Southern Nation, Nationalities and People’s Region (SNNPR), our programs have expanded throughout Sidama Region and will soon grow to cover clinics in Gedeo Zone.

Ethiopia is located in a region with the highest morbidity and mortality from cervical cancer in the world. An estimated 12,965 Ethiopian women are newly diagnosed and roughly 7,089 women die each year from cervical cancer. [i]

Coffee lovers all agree that there are only a handful of growing regions worldwide that have as a distinct and wonderful award-winning profile as found here. As Grounds for Health readies for going into the Gedeo region, we can again be gratified that our support will help bring life-saving health care to another coffee community. Unarguably, a great thing.
